Alot of people here seem to have great success with effexor. Cymbalta I here works the same way, without the side effects, but it's not available in the US yet. I have to agree with your doctor and wife on the Xanax. It's a highly addictive drug. I'm in recovery and know plenty of people who curse the doctors who put them on it, they cannot get off. I also know people in AA who use xanax to get high since they're supposedly "sober" they use it as a substitute. I would stay away
