Xanax vs. Xanax XR

Xanax vs. Xanax XR--I take .25mg to .5mg two to three times a day of regular Xanax and it works well, but I have thought about the switch to the extended release Xanax for convenience purposes. Has anyone tried both? Is there any real benefits between the two or any draw backs?
