My understanding is that it's mainly appetitive--much of this being from Remeron's extremely powerful H1 histamine blockade. I've read anecdotes from people on drugs with much weaker H1 blockades than this who had severe carbohydrate cravings, which will obviously tend to put weight on a person. The other factor is the serotonin 2C receptors, which are also related to appetite. Stimulating these receptors (as Prozac does) will tend to reduce appetite; however, Remeron blockades all serotonin 2 receptors, and this will tend to increase appetite even further. AFAIK, Remeron is the most notorious AD for weight gain.Todd
