I was exactly the same way about a year ago. I was desperate to see a dr so that i wouldnt do something silly, i rang a 24 hr mental health hotline in the end as i could not get an appointment with a dr. They were an absolute savior for me, i called them many times just to have someone listen to me and be sympathetic, they got me an appointment with a psych too. I am in australia so i dont know if you have access to something like that in the UK, but definitely worth a look into.
I sincerely hope that you find a way through this bad time.
