Equivalent dosage of zyprexa vs. seroquel

Posted by nmk on March 19, 2004, at 12:23:22

I am currently taking 2.5 mg of zyprexa along with 2 mg of Klonopin for sleep. The combo is working out well but my appetite on the zyprexa is insatiable. I have been exercising like crazy but still can't lose the 10 pounds I have packed on since starting. A few questions:

My pdoc insists that the zyprexa weight gain is due to the appetite increase but I have been reading that it also slows metabolism. Am I correct?

What would be an equivalent dose of seroquel to the 2.5 mg of zyprexa I am taking?

Does seroquel cause less of the weight gain?

Or, am I better off sticking to the klonopin and 10 mg of Ambien? This works wonders for me too but I was afraid of staying on the ambien long term and developing a dependency.

Sorry for all of the questions but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nicole
