Because trazodone blockades serotonin 2A receptors (one of the reasons it is sedating), it will tend to mitigate side effects caused by stimulation of those receptors, including insomnia and sexual dysfunction. In this way, it is not very different from nefazodone (Serzone), a very similar molecule that is somewhat less sedating. If taken at night, I would expect these positive effects of trazodone to not be as prominent the next day, but I believe some people do take it twice a day. Obviously, not everyone is able to tolerate the sedation involved with this.Todd
