It's really funny to be reading all of these things about Wellbutrin and weight loss. I got here because I was looking to see if Wellbutrin caused weight gain. I've been on it for a year or so. I had gained weight early on, but spent 4 months very seriously dieting and lost 45 pounds. I started excersizing a lot during that time and still do.

What's odd is that I have had a very hard time losing any more weight and had stabilized for over 4 months. Last week, my metabolism seemed to change drastically and I started losing weight (around 5 pounds in less than a week) even though I was not eating carefully. The only thing I can think of is that I had run out of Wellbutrin during that time. Now that I'm back on it, I've already gained back 2 pounds.

During that week, I was hungry constantly, which is an indicator to me that my metabolism was in overdrive.

I've noticed statements like "a small percentage actually gain weight on Wellbutrin" and "it (Wellbutrin) clearly "speeds" one up."

Putting these two things together, my guess is that it "speeds up" someone taking it for depression, but "slows down" someone taking it for ADD/ADHD, like I am. It's already known that cocaine and caffiene have the opposite effect on a person with ADD/ADHD. Specifically, they both have a "slowing" or "calming" effect, quite the opposite effect they have on a normal person. It seems to me that this may be what's happening to me with the Wellbutrin.

The problem is that my temper gets so bad without it that I'm afraid to test my theory.
