We had thought we saw it all then one night after we but him to bed with me he seem to wake suddenly but after turning on the light we saw he was not awake at all he was completly out of it and very scarred I had never seen a child be so horrified and not be able to help him, what ever we did it dident help, his eyes wear bulging and he could see something that we could'ent. I't lasted several minuts then he came out of it and was shaking terribly, We took him to the childrens hosp. and they told us it was epilepy and we can not believe that that was what was going on , after doing several test and having several more ,(episods). We asked for a sleep study on him and our getting one now but this has been going on for a year now and we still don't have answers, and have seen all sorts of Dr. at the Hosp.

It must be terrible to have such a young child have such terrifying symptoms.

Sometimes kids who have a high fever will go into convulsions. Doctors will *not* encourage you to put a child who has these febrile convulsions on anti-epileptic drugs, so if they are diagnosing his condition as a seizure disorder (epilepsy), then you should pay attention. They should be able to distinguish between night terrors and seizures. Get a second opinion if you haven't done so already. Consider putting him on anti-seizure medication, because it could save his life.

My kids had problems digesting food after I weaned them from breast milk. They both got goat's milk (smells disgusting, but less than soy formula.) I kept them off cows milk and all grains except rice. My daughter couldn't digest acidic fruits for a while, either. Sweet potatoes were *the worst*. They gave her putrid chalky diarrhea. I don't know if my caution was justified, but they are both pretty healthy. My daughter has pollen allergies like her father, but neither kids had the constant strep throats that both their father and I had. They didn't get ear infections, either, so I hope I did something right.

If your son is constantly sick and underweight I'd ask to see a gastroenterologist (digestive specialist) and an immunologist.

Best of luck,

Ilene
