New to this board, but very happy to find you all!
I finally decided to go on AD in Oct 2003, when things got so bad emotionally I considered suicide. Thanks to therapy and Celexa, life has become a joy again.
However, some side effects I'm experiencing sound like what you are all discussing. Inability to have Org. (no problem with drive though...wouldn't you know it!).
My doc is so supportive, and carefully weaned me onto Celexa. Haven't tried any other ADs. Felt fine at 5mg per day, then up to 10mg per day. Now trying 15 mg per day. May return to 10mg since now am experiencing hot flushes all day long, disturbing sleep too.
However, complicating factors are
1) am low thyroid, under control, and levels checked recently, so feel that is not causing flushes.
2) Entered peri-menopause in June 2003 (after surgerical removal of one ovary with large cyst, no cancer though) and doc noticed other one "dried up". Am 50 now. Had severe hot flashes (they actually feel different from the flushes I'm now having) and went on very low dose (2 or 5mg??) of premarin, which seemed to get rid of hot flashes and I started sleeping again.
Believe I may be having some side effects of Celexa though: trouble sleeping (again!), memory loss, having trouble getting words out of my mouth at work that are accurate....think one thing and sometimes type or say another word. So odd. Anyone else had this experience?
If/when I go off the Celexa, will definitely wean it down slowly. But for now, it's a wonderful thing and I'm putting up with the side effects.
Thanks all....
Leizel
