Why can't MAOI's be combined?

Hello. I know that people often take several SSRI's at the same time.
Does anyone know why you can't combine Nardil and Parnate? I am currently on Parnate. I wish I could add Nardil to help me with sleep etc. Why is combining the two dangerous?
