When I am suffering from a bout of clinical depression, it is harder to differ between the two. Mostly because the clinical depression is all consuming. But you will notice that things do get a little worse before your period, and things get a little better after your period. When I talk about clincal depression, I am talking about not eating, not sleeping, I mean no sleep, steady state of panic, basically, so the mental symptoms of PMS are not very noticable, but I will still notice the physical part, eg., swollen & tender breasts, water retention.

When I am not in a state of clinical depression, the PMS is very noticable. Actually for me it is debilitating. Mostly the fatigue and physical symptoms, which of course makes a person alot more miserable, anxious, moody, depressed, etc. Although lately, the depression before my period is getting alot worse. I noticed that when I took Celexa, I didn't get PMS, or very little symptoms. It really helped the physical symptoms, which I thought was really weird. I am now taking Manerix, and it is great for energy, but not for PMS, and doesn't help with my down moods. For this reason I am thinking about stopping the Manerix and maybe taking Celexa just 2 weeks before my period and then taking nothing for the 2 weeks after my period.

I just hate to give up the energy from Manerix, but the PMS is just really getting to me again. I have decided, if I get really tired again, I can just go back on Manerix.
