gal,

i would drop the ultracet like a hot potato -- i took it (actually ultram) for knee & back pain for several weeks, thinking that i might get accustomed to its "activating" effects, but alas, it was not to be. it is supposedly a *weak* NE reuptake inhibitor, but if you're extra-sensitive to increased NE, it most likely won't agree with you and you probably won't get used to it. i saw your previous post where you mentioned jitteriness and insomnia -- i had those problems too and they didn't go away. darn shame, cos it's a *great* pain reliever for moderate to moderately severe pain (at higher doses). many people do just fine on it -- coffee drinkers or those who take stimulant meds might not even notice its activating effects. it sounds like you're sensitive though, and might want to steer clear. i'd ask your doc for other suggestions to alleviate your pain (i'm unsure as to its location and severity and wouldn't know what to recommend for that reason).
