Don't have much experience with stims, so I can't help ya there. But if you want to know Provigil's mech. of action - this is my understanding of it:
It is an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist, with weak dopamine reuptake inhibition properties. Apparently it increases activity of glutamate, histamine and serotonin. There is a bit more to it I think, but that is what I know.
