Hi MaryHelen,
When I first started Lamictal, I suffered both hair loss and dandruff. Both stopped when I began using a dandruff shampoo containing zinc pyrithione. I don't know if it would help the degree of hair loss you describe.
It seems to be a very common story that someone respond wonderfully to Lamictal early in treatment, regardless of dosage, only to have it disappear within a month or two. It seems to be a better augmentor of antidepressants than a monotherapeutic tool when treating depression.
Sometimes, people need dosages of Parnate exceeding 100mg to respond. I don't know of anything that can be used as a predictor of success with this strategy, but if you are going to try it, you might as well do it as soon as possible. Although I did better on Parnate at 120mg than I did at 80mg, it was an inadequate response, so I stopped taking it.
