Don't do it. 8 years old?? That's still so young. No, i'm sorry but-- unless in the most extreme of circumstances-- that's ridiculous. i've heard of a number of people (including a couple good friends) who were put on psychostimulants as children and feel that it messed them up. It sickens me how many KIDS we are forcibly drugging these days. Many people, including myself, also feel messed up from SSRIs and Effexor for awhile (hopefully not indefinitely) afterwards. And an 8 year old? No. Screw what the dr told you. S/He's not God.! Though s/he might think so. No, sorry. But yeah, there are other ways to deal with anxiety, especially while young. Take him to a psychologist or something. Good luck.
