In reply to Anyone on or tried Wellbutrin and Lamictal??, posted by Krissy P on March 25, 2003, at 13:50:30
Hi again! You're asking about meds I've either heard of, know people who are on, or have been on myself!
Wellbutrin - different from other a-d's because it acts primarily on DOPAMINE, not serotonin. It can be activating, give heart palpitations and cause anxiety, BUT my own father and a good friend of mine have had EXCELLENT results with it.
Lamictal - I've tried it twice - didn't do anything for me. Very important that you start on a LOW, I mean reeeeeeeeeal low dose and titrate up very slowly because it can cause a life-threatening rash if started too high, and gone up too fast. I started at 2mg/day, and could only tolerate 100mg/day - first time just didn't seem to make any difference, second time got me jittery and anxious (but may have been interacting badly with EffexorXR I was taking).
