Help!! OCD/Chrohn's Disease...Is this For Real??

Posted by Bubba D. Lux on February 28, 2003, at 16:04:31

Please, Hope someone can help!!

My partner of the last year suffers from a condition called OCD. When he told me he had the condition, I really did not know what it entailed. I read up on it about it. Oh NO!!!!

It manifests itself in "theraputic" cleaning (has to smell everything washed), takes baths WITH the cat, hides boxes fabric softener in his briefcase for crying out loud), throws up if you eat CHEESE around him, (reminds him of "dead people"), shampoo, HUNDREDS of bottles (believe it or not, he even has a little ritual in the bathtub for it), an unrealistic and horrific fear of "going to hell", (his born-again cult mother instilled this little gem into his head)??!!, VIOLENT outbursts of temper and sexual "things" well beyond what would be considered "normal". (I.E. putting the moves on a mentally-handicapped guy we know, a 53 year old soon-to-be grandmother tenant of mine, an old, dear girlfriend of mine he e-mails in Italy. The list goes on!!). It doesnt matter if it's male or female. He'll harbor ages of sexual desire for a person for stupid reasons like my friend in Italy LIVES in an exotic location like Italy. WHAT IS THIS?? Is this OCD?? He lies pathologically about the smallest thing and keeps deep, dark secrets (like his relationship from his "born-again" adoptive family about spending time with his biological family for fear his adoptive mother will tell him he is "going to hell"??!!.

He's 32, as of yesterday. Is this some strange part of the OCD?? What has caused this irrational behavior in a highly educated person??

The real problem is his OCD and his vehement position that he has Chrohn's disease. We went to a GI doctor. My boyfriend didn't know I would speak to the doctor. The doctor told me while he was in recovery that he didn't have Chrohn's disease and showed me the pictures to prove it. He suggested we see his psychiatrist.

He "goes to the bathroom" on himself for crying out loud. Is this an attention ploy. OCD?? Is he seriously mentally ill??

I'm at the end of my rope. Please, Is this part of OCD or a deeper mental condition. If so, What medications should he be on. He has been on many (or so he claims, who knows what the truth really is with his reality). I love him very deeply and want him to get well.

I would sincerely appreciate ANY help ANYONE could provide. Any experiences like this?? I don't know how much longer I can care.

Thanks SO MUCH!!
