> Many of us on this site have found great benefit from using an MAOI. Although, it has to be said, there are also many who have not experienced the same degree, or any degree, of relief from the same drugs.

This may sound crazy and a little optimistic, but i truly believe most people (the vast majority) of people who don't get the Nardil brilliance pull out too quickly due to s/effects and onset of action. For example, one fellow needed 10 weeks on high dose before it killed his depression. The same guy need an extra 3 weeks before it abolished -- and I mean abolished - his OCD. Then it was the best God send for him ever. You must admit, not many people would hang out that long. It took 6 weeks for me to feel substantial improvement -- 4 of those weeks on 60mg. Most people also forget -- and I try hard to remind them -- that once the dose is ramped up it then takes additional time for the higher dose to kick in. For example, even if you have been on 60mg for 12 weeks, raising it to 90mg won't have instant effect. It may take 4/5/6/ weeks for the 90mg dose to kick in.

> Those of us who have gained benefit sing the praises of the drug so loudly that we drown out any alternative views because we are so relieved to be feeling differently.

Or is it because SSRIs suck, and for the VAST majority they provide only minimal or moderate relief? Most people on MAOIs have been through the whole SSRI gamut. And I have hardly ever, and I mean HARDLY, seen anywhere nere the sort of responses from SSRIs as from MAOIs. And I have done A LOT of research, at uni, on the net, in books etc etc.

> Take care to discuss how you feel with your doctor before emarking on an MAOI to ensure that it is an appropraite drug for your personal circumstances.
> Ace will probably think I'm being too cautious, and I know doctors don't always know best, but those of us who are devotees of MAOI medication have to remember it isn't always the perfect drug for eveyone.
> Sorry Ace, but good luck Tepiaca.
