I, too, started on Effexor (the XR). I've been on it a month, am up to 75mg. Started on 37.5 for 2 weeks, then 75. It's for depression/anxiety. Have been on (over the last 11 years) nortryptyline (pooped out), then Celexa, which after a while "hypered me up" too much. Affected my sleep too much. I tried Wellbutrin but felt like a raging bull.
Effexor has been great. I have good energy- drink a cup of coffee in the morning and I can get a lot done! I have a positive outlook, the worry is greatly decreased. My sleep is much better now. Not too many side effects, some dry mouth, no GI effects. I feel a little fuzzy but much better than when I take nothing! Compared to me off the ADs, this is better (though not perfect.)
Overall, it suits me. I was worried after reading others' bad experiences, but I tried it. My appetite has decreased, I don't have the carbo cravings I did on Celexa. But, I sure miss the wonderful dreams I had on Celexa!
As for sex life, well, how to put it delicately? Libido OK, orgasm is 4 or 5 little ones compared to one regular one before. (I'm female.) Guess I can't complain............
