Hi Heather!
Why don't you give the Zyprexa a try for a couple weeks and see how it goes? I'm on week 3 (also for BP II) and I really like it so far. I haven't noticed any weight gain (I've had a huge appetite my entire life) and oddly enough, it doesn't make me sleepy (which it is supposed to, from everything that I've read). It does help with the "racing thoughts" and has definitely helped to stabilize my mood. By the way, I'm taking 20 mg.
I'm so sorry to hear about your hospital stay...I know that must have been awful. I haven't been doing well lately either...my pdoc actually FORCED me to take 2 days off from work because I was "too manic and may make very bad decisions" and she didn't want me quitting over something stupid like the copier being out of paper (which I actually almost did!!!). I can definitely say that the Zyprexa has definitely helped me regain a shred of sanity. Now I only threaten to quit my job when the copeier gets jammed up really bad. ;-)

I have heard that Zyprexa causes weight gain- it is any more than what Risperdal caused? Has anyone had a positive experience on this drug? I'm so scared to take something new because I'm not doing very well- was hospitalized last week.
