Unless the flu is causing the symptom,
sounds a lot like water intoxication/hyponatremia.

Need more salt.

This is strange though because 6-8 glasses of water is
by no means a lot of h20?

Some medications can cause something called SIADH
(Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone).

ADH (antidiuretic hormone) is secreted by the pituitary
gland and signals the kidney to recycle water. This will
dilute the concentration of salt (hyponatremia).
