In reply to what does it feel like to have a panic attack?, posted by adamie on November 26, 2001, at 20:19:19
Well, of course, it's terrible. I differentiate
panic attacks from anxiety attacks because an anxiety attack is brought on for a reason, often imaginary - someone is trying to break into your house, your son is late coming home so he must have been in a fatal car crash - stuff like that.A panic attack often occurs for no discernable reason. Your heart starts to pound, you often sweat and hyperventilate, adrenaline floods your system, you think you might actually be dieing.
Once I had such a severe panic attack, right in the middle of the mall, I had to run to the restroom and throw up. In short, you just feel terrified, scared to death. If you suffer from panic attacks, you need treatment. There's no reason to go through that kind of hell when help is available.
Go get help!
