I looked up the lyrics real quick for ya John. I believe the closest drug to what the song describes is GHB.
His requirements were:
-won't make him nervous
-won't make him feel bad or too good
-won't make him crash his car
-doesn't come in a pill or cost too much
-won't make him stay up all night or sleep all day
-won't make him talk to much
-won't make his face break out
-won't make him sick
-won't make him feel 3 feet thick
-won't make him crash his car
-won't make his head hurt, eyes turn red, mouth too dry
-one that won't go away
That which is stressed most repeatedly is that he wants a new drug that will make him "feel like I feel when I'm with you (assumed romantic interest)"With the exception of the part about not going away, I believe GHB in small repeated doses throughout the day on an empty stomach (impossible to do all day since you have to eat sometime) fulfill his requirement the closest. Antidepressants don't really make you feel like you're in love...and they can keep you up all night or make you nervous. It could make you crash your car, but at a dosage that would be too high to be comfortable. I imagine some could also argue low dose ecstacy, but I believe this is very expensive and and might make you feel too good (and damage your brain!). So in conclusion, I believe the closest substance we have to Mr. Lewis's requests is steady dose ghb
After this post, the obvious abundance of time I have on my hands will probably drive some board members to wish I did have a job.
