I would be more apt to trust information that is "anecdotal" (experiential) with lots of agreeing and dissenting balance from other people that have had personal experience with the issue in question. If your experiences and questions were "typical" then your doctor probably would have satisfied you and you wouldn't be asking questions *here*.

I think it is important to have a good intuition and to "present" the info in an accessible and understandable manner to the person who is requesting it.
