Sherry, this is a little of a stretch, but I read somewhere that the phenylalanine in *diet* drinks (due to the aspartame) can be stimulating to some people and that when aspartame breaks down you get aspartic acid which may be affecting NMDA receptors which may in turn increase excitatory neurotransmitter levels. Can anybody correct, add to, or clarify that? I can't remember where I found the info.
