It has enabled me to stare people right in the eye during a tense confrontation and calmly stick up for myself and my opinions, without the grogginess of Xanax. I don't know if I have the dosage just right yet, or whether I will build a tolerance, but for now, it seems to be doing a good job, even though I am also taking an activating antidepressant (Wellbutrin) that is probably negating some of its effects.
It has not changed my personality in a "Listening to Prozac" sort of way though - I have no more desire to be social than before. But I am no longer afraid of getting into tense situations or conversations.
