Where is the proof to show that opiates or recreational drugs treat depression effectively if SSRIs fail? I don't see any double-blind, university-sponsored, repetition-confirmed studies that show this.
Let me tell you about GHB. People get treated in an Emergency Room who would ordinary die of GHB and other drug use without medical attention. GHB causes dizziness, numbness, slurred speech, and vomiting in small doses. In larger amounts GHB can cause seizures, respiratory depression, coma and death. GHB is known as the date-rape drug because it knocks people out, sometimes permanently.
Just because you "thought" you had a "safe" trip last time doesn't mean you will next time. The brew can be twice as strong or slightly lower (which can be just as dangerous!!!). Maybe you're not getting high like last time, so you decide to take just a little bit more to get you buzz going...that "little bit more" could be just enough to kill you.
