Do the fatty acids make you gain weight? Like if you are trying to limit the amount of fat you eat, do you have to include the amount of fat in the pills in the total amount of fat you are eating per day?

> I've had PMS for a long time. It would cause depression and major irritability. However, I started taking omega fatty acid supplements, and the problem seems to have decreased noticeably. there are several kinds of omega fatty acids: There are omega-3s, omega-6s, and omega-9s. The omega 3s and 9s are good at fighting PMS, whereas the 9s are not (they're the fats in junk like McDonald's fries). I THINK that's correct. Omega 3s are found in fish oil and flax seed oil, and 9s are in borage oil, evening primrose oil, and I think also in flax oil. I take a spoonful of flax oil every morning, and a capsule of borage oil at dinner. Since I started doing this, I noticed that the PMS has eased.
> A bonus is that these oils make your skin soft, smooth, and more even-colored. They have LOTS of other health benefits, but I of course have been most interested in their effect on PMS.
> Just some notes -- Flax oil needs to be kept refrigerated, and the most potent form is taken by spoon, rather than by capsule. Look for the brands that have the highest number of omega-3 and omega-9 milligrams, NOT just the highest number of oil milligrams.
> Borage oil is the most potent form of omega-6. Look for brands that have the highest milligrams of GLA.
> All of these things can be found in health food stores. A bottle of flaxseed oil costs me about $8 and lasts a month. A bottle of borage oil capsules cost about $15 and can last two months, roughly. You may get greater benefit from taking more than one spoonful of flaxseed oil and more than one capsule of borage oil, but the extra cost may be worth it to reduce your suffering.
> Keep in mind that it might take two or three months to notice a difference. Don't give up before giving it several months. The nice effect on your complexion shows up much quicker though.
> I hope this helps others, because it has helped me.
