Withdrawal from LUVOX

Posted by Dave@MT on February 14, 2001, at 18:20:18

I have been as high as 250 mg/day Luvox for depression and OCD for about 8 months. I was on Remeron before that for a few months, which was very unpleasant. Luvox has worked well for me except that it has a tendency to make me sleepy and to "slow down" my ability to think. I have a job that requires a great deal of analytical thinking and making a lot of decisions so that has been a challenge. I have tapered my dose off now to about 25 mg per day, intending to get off entirely. I seem to have regained control of my emotions, so I want to get off the drug.

However, I have been experiencing some unpleasant side effects as I let my dosage drop off. Mostly, it is sensations of something like an "electric current" shooting though my brain and nerves. It is a brief sensation but repeats itself frequently throughout the day. It feels like "my eggs are getting scrambled", like when you receive a blow to the head. It also seems to happen most often when I move my head or eyes, as if the motion triggers it somehow. If I take a 50 mg dose it usually goes away in 30 minutes or so.

Has anyone else had this experience, or do you know how I can find out more about it?

Thanx
Dave
