HI Mike,
I switched from Zoloft to Efexor without stopping Zoloft. I found Efexor extremely effective. I felt energized and was full of life. I got everything done. The only downside is, it made me feel ill (ie. nauseous) for about 1/2 hr to 1 hr, sometimes longer. But when it kicks in, I'm buzzing all day. No effects whatsoever having to stop between Zoloft and Efexor. However, I am now changing over to Luvox. I still haven't found the right one for me that doesn't make me feel ill. I was taking Aropax before Zoloft.
