> Update. I was trying doxepin along with elavil to get away from the cravings of elavil but did not work as I got even more cravings with this combo! I switched to trimipramine (25 mg) and elavil (60 mg) but found this combo not working also (excessive flushing, sweating - felt like menopause but I'm not ready for that yet, thank you!!).

Hi Bee.

I think that it is important to take into consideration that Elavil might produce a conflict or an exaggeration of the side effects of any other drugs you may be taking. Both Ludiomil (maprotiline) and Elavil (amitriptyline) inhibit the reuptake of norepinephrine (NE) and produce anticholinergic side effects. Perhaps your flushing and sweating when adding Surmontil (trimipramine) to Elavil was caused by such a reaction between these two anticholinergic drugs. Maybe things would be less complicated if you were to choose another drug to help you sleep.

Of course, it is also possible that the combination of Elavil + Ludiomil will work better than Ludiomil by itself. Either way, it is important to take into consideration any cardiac problems you may have as both of these drugs are can be cardiotoxic.

I have never taken Ludiomil to be able to describe its side effects (I think I'll add this drug to my short list). However, you should expect side effects that are similar to those of Elavil: dry-mouth, constipation, sweating, increased heart-rate, blurred vision, and difficulty urinating. It is difficult to predict whether you will experience any of these or how long they might last.

Good luck.
