Abby has it right. Cytomel is most often prescribed to augment antidepressants. Thyroid deficiencies are more often treated with T4 (thyroxine ?) or the two hormones in combination.
T3 has made a great deal of difference, First when teamed with a TCA in 1984(?) and the recent restoration of it to the level that first helped me. Peculiar lab values made my pdocs reduce the dosage during the disaster in 1997. I have had only brief bright spells since then, but this feels much more solid and real. I sure hope it lasts more than a few weeks before dropping me back into hell.
