> Does anyone have any experience with taking Effexor XR and Zoloft at the same time. My doctor started me on Effexor a few weeks ago, along with the Zoloft, which I had been taking for quite some time with good results, until the depression resurfaced. I am having trouble getting a good night's sleep and I feel tense most of the day, especially around the shoulders. I take Zoloft (200 mg) in the AM and the Effexor (112.5 mg) at noon. Progress is SLOW. I noticed that I feel much better just prior and during my period though. My Dr. does not feel this has anything to do with menopause (I'm 40) and blood test indicated my hormone levels are OK. This is sooooo frustrating. Any similar cases out there?

Betty, I've never taken Effexor-XR and Paxil or Zoloft together, but I am taking Effexor-XR and note the same difficulty sleeping you've mentioned. I take it very early in the morning, so by night time, I'm not as keyed up. Also, I take a small amount of Serzone at night to help me sleep. You might want to ask your pdoc about changing the time you take the Effexor-XR and the Zoloft.
BTW, I'm 48 years old, and haven't reached menopause yet. I've noticed though that any pain I have (from arthritis, sore throats, whatever) diminishes when I start my period every month. The depression and OCD are pretty constant--Cindy W
