My brother has a recumbent bike; he says that the best part about it, aside from the increased rear-end and joint comfort is the ability to get somewhere while still staying "connected." Of course, it helps if you live somewhere you *want* to be connected to. Where I live, I'll take air-conditioned entombment every time.Re bios: That stuff tends to come out in bits, similar to real-life friendships. Some of us reveal parts of our inner selves here that we've exposed nowhere else; without external anonymity, much of that might not be possible. Trust, for an individual or a group, is as easy to lose as it is difficult to win. Of course, since this is no longer the "safe" place it once seemed, maybe the nature of the posts will continue to change along with the names of the posters.
Re drugs: Sometimes I think that category labels are as limiting to drugs as stereotypes are to people. They focus attention on a single dimension, ignoring the potentional value visible from a different view. Who, "crazy" or not, wants to take an "antipsychotic"? But small doses of "major" drugs have been known to help more while hindering less than larger doses of "minor" drugs. YMMV! Maybe it's more a matter of "fit" than character--with drugs *and* with people.
And, while we're on that subject, I sincerely share your sentiments on your last topic. I feel sad when posters I have come to value, who are as fragile and vulnerable as I feel, are subjected to personal meanness deliberately designed to harm. Even if the triggers can be ignored, the fallout pain and distrust can't. From my view, it's a poisonously bad "fit," with debilitating side effects. I just hope it's not a permanent condition.
