I have the awesome opportunity to go to Lake Powell each summer. It's the most wonderful relaxing place on earth. I was, however, very fearful at first to be in the middle of nowhere without access to medical/psych help. I imagined the never ending panic attack on the entire drive there my first year. I did end up finding out firsthand about the medical care availablity though, when one in our group got hurt. There is a hospital in Page Arizona at the southwest entrance to the lake. It's very small, and basic. Don't look for much, but at least it's there if you need an Rx. We went onward to Tucson (and froze our butts off in our bathing suits). They have an awesome hospital that is about 1.5 hrs past Page AZ. Bad news is that you have to take a really bad highway to get there. Make sure someone else drives, or you really will drive yourself crazy(no pun intended). Page AZ also has pharmacies and a Wal-Mart. Remember you may not be able to get out of state RX's filled as quickly as you need it! The entrance at the northeast end of the lake in Utah has absolutely nothing! That was much scarier, but I didn't try it until year three. I definetly recommend the Arizona end of the lake with the Rainbow Bridge and tons of great stuff for the new psycho visitor (aren't we all) Have fun! Jennifer

> Sorry, the St. George area s a bit far away, but Zion and Bryce Natl. Parks are beautiful. Capital Reef is farther east, but is also worth a visit if you get the chance. Grand Junction is a long drive from any of those. You will have fun! There is a lot of spectacular scenery there. I haven't a clue about the fishing. A lot of people from here regularly head for Lake Powell, but I have to confess that I've never been there. R & R is good for the soul and probably the brain, too.
