Racer - Headaches, especially at the start of therapy, are side effects of both Effexor and Prozac. They usually fade with time, as your body adjusts. Prozac can be taken with Effexor, but I am not sure you would have much additive antidepressant effect over using each agent individually (unless you are taking higher doses of Effexor, but then you have to start to watch for serotonin syndrome - excess serotonin). The excess serotonin may be a result of too much reuptake blockade, but this would be very patient variable. Mild serotonin syndrome could be some of the additive side effects you are seeing, but at the levels you are mentioning is most likely not dangerous.

Prozac is sometimes used to wean someone who is having problems with Effexor withdrawl syndrome. Prozac's long half-life allows the body to readjust to life without the serotonin reuptake block more gradually. Hope this helps - Cam W.
