Hi Caroline,
I was on Anafranil, and if I weren't a rapid cycling bipolar with an impulse control problem, it would have worked for me. I'm pretty certain of this.
If Anafranil helped your depression before without too many side effects, I'd go on it again if I were you. Desipramine would have been even better for me than Anafranil--if I could have tolerated it. Desipramine is another TCA.
There is always Trazodone to help sleeping.
