I would have absolutely none of the following without this board: anyone to talk to, discuss with, gain wisdom from, be encouraged by in regard to depression, meds, mental illness ect.. My family views my 'obsession' with depression and mental illness as just that, an obsession.
I have felt the brokeness of my person all my life but they don't want to hear about anymore. Finally being diagnosed actually backfired for me in relation to them. They now see the illness as something to treat and not to think about or discuss. They know what's wrong with me and say "Just let the docs fix you and put it behind you" and I have to smile at their naiveté.
I do understand why they are tired of it, having to live with me is enough work in the first place :-) But it does make me feel isolated and I find refuge and solace here and that is fortifying.
