Susan, Paxil interferes with sleep, so even when you "seem" to sleep well, your system isn't getting what it needs from the sleep, and thus the tiredness. Also Paxil is the more sedating of the SSRIs. 40mg is a hefty dose, with most people doing fine on 20mg-30mg. I would guess a comparable range for Wellbutrin would be around 400mg, which is merely a guess at the high end. The two meds are so different it is hard to compare apples and oranges. Wellbutrin might perk you up by day, but will likely destroy sleep quality even worse than Paxil. But, as you know, everyone is different and what works wonders for one is a nightmare for another. Hey, Remeron is wonderful for sleep, and goes well with Wellbutrin. Trial and error, art not science, best wishes, and know there are thousands out there just like you (and me) struggling through it all together. John.
