I am NO longer a student. I got to dress up like a wizard and they handed me a diploma!

I thought it was great too. Did you like your gift I gave you? I thought it was cute, and was special, a real star to pick out and name yourself to mark this special occasion, complete with one of your favorite objects. But I guess I was wrong, well at least I tried.

Happy, I finally got a bit of time to myself to ponder the heavens. I am officially part of Cassiopaeia, my favorite constellation. So pretty, that one... (sigh)

And my star has an online personality. I am still figuring out how to make star buddies. At least I have real buddies though - sorry it took me so long to figure out all the cool things that the secret code unlocked.

(((((((happy))))))

Hope is such a precious gift. I'm honored. Hold onto the reins of hope when things start spinning out of control. When sanity failed me and my grad school friends failed me, and my advisors were giving me hell- at least there was still hope. A finish line.

you too- hey, am I still allowed to check out this board, even though I'm not a student?

well. they run the gamut. The good thing is that I'm able to feel all of them. perhaps not in the proportions that others seem to feel FOR me. I'll post more about that later

uh oh! I hope I'm a good hero. My only superpower is that I can convince others that I think in a straight line.

mixed feelings

First the good
Walking across the stage and shaking the hand of el presidente, eating dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, and everyone was behaving themselves

joy, pride

Upon deeper reflection

"damn, I've been through a lot in the last year, and this project has been part of my life for the last 2.5 years, and will continue to be part of my life until I've written up all the manuscripts I can from it"

"I'm such a f*cking fraud. They just barely let me squeeze through the cracks. my work is a piece of sh*t. they were just sick of me and let me pass"

"hey, we all wear the same thing, we all have our names printed in the program. young old fat skinny red hair or black. we are all equivalent on this day as graduates. If other people have done impressive things, maybe I have too"

"must pack must pack must clean must organize for my move pack more faster now now now ignore exhaustion keep going if you stop you'll die if you stop you'll be found keep running running"

"What the hell do I do now? I've been a student since I was 5. What do people do when they're out of school? It's the only thing I know how to do [well] besides my cooking..."

"The end of the first third of my life: the beginning of the 2nd third"

"I'm poor"

"How can other people possibly understand that I'm not jumping for joy 24/7? Will they understand, or will they just think I'm a whiner?"

"Thank goodness I can enjoy a few precious moments each day without unrelenting pressure to produce an opus. Thankfulness that the moments become slightly longer each day"

OMG, I'm so jealous! I want that power! I can't fake it to save my life. Not without a lot of time, paper and pencil, quiet, and more time.

You are NOT a fraud, and they don't let people slip through the cracks. Of course it is a mixed bag. You put your heart, soul, and emotional well-being on the line to do this. It is a huge accomplishment that not many can do. When one is working on a doctorate, they tend to forget that most of the rest of the world never goest that far in school. I remember thinking that later on when people started calling me Dr.
