wtf? It's getting pretty frustrating. And I have bags the size of steamer trunks under my eyes.

That sucks Jammer. Maybe you are overly tired. I dunno. Seems paradoxical.

Any meds to help you sleep?

Everyone is different---but I was the same way and the only thing that worked was Restoril 30mg(of course--they make them not so strong too). It's pretty cheap and packs a punch.

sweetiepiejammers, my Pdoc gave me trazadone for sleep. it never was very helpful for depression and it caused the patients to be drowsy. so...now it is oftimes given for a sleep aid. :-) sure works for me.

and like bobby said about his Restoril .....it is very cheap...we love cheap!!!

I actually do have some trazadone, but don't like the hungover feeling I always get the next day. Maybe I can try that next week when I don't have some place to be every damn day. I also have the promethazine (someone (with a drug problems) told me it's a popular street drug. perhaps I should inquire for a REALLY good time?) they prescribed last week when I had a stomach virus. That makes for really, really yummy sleep, with no hangover. But, it's LONG sleep and I got stuff to do tomorrow. Looks as if I'm stuck for now.

Had full day of tests and doctor appointments today. Possible heart abnormalities. Get to wear a monitor all next weekend. Can't shower for 2 days. May be a nice time to play with meds and get oodles of sleep. Think it'd affect the readings?

And Sid, I have no clue why. Any ideas on your end?

I have not read the thread, but if you have possible heart abnormalities, perhaps trazodone is not a good idea?
It has some strange effects in that department.

What's this popular street drug?
Trazodone?
Promethazine?
Well, I heard they were selling Zyprexa on the street here, so it may be possible.
But what can it mean?

Jammers, I have been having really horrid dreams that include seeing my old brahma bull ( we had such a bond) and my ex-husband and the ranch. I miss all of that so much and it is really gut-wrenching to have those dreams.

So.....suspecting that the Buspar+Trazadone was the culprit, I went to HEB and bought their OTC sleep aid. I took it, with the others) and was asleep by the time I hit the bed. The only dreams were pleasant and I didn't wake up anxious and scared. I can't handle those dreams. So painful.I do not feel drugged today.

Oh, my Pdoc had okayed the OTC some time ago. The med h as that ingredient, starts with a D, that all those OTCs have.

Good luck, Pat

Jammer,
just having full days of things to do causes insomnia in me. After all kinds of things to think about, and choices to make, and health concerns, etc., maybe you've hit the point where you can't quite "turn off" the thoughts.

Tell more- is it a busy mind thing? a busy body thing? Does your body want to sleep and your mind doesn't? Does your mind want to sleep and your body doesn't?

So sorry. Insomnia is yuck. I have luck with ambien and sonata. benedryl too, and klonopin, in small doses many of these will not cause hangover. If you go to bed at 9pm, you might be able to avoid hangover too.

no showers for 2 days? DARN ;)

Sounds like stress and you have every right to be stressed if testing for heart abormalities. I do hope you slept last night. Benzos put me out. Phillipa

Hi you - any better?

So sorry. Being tired & not being able to sleep is a horrible feeling.

I know this is pretty basic, but what helps me is the following:

Make warm milk & honey (or sugar, I guess, but honey is more soothing) & take it with about 3 calcium/magnesium tabs (or calcium on it's own would probably do it). I find that this helps. Now, it could be that I usually wait for hours NOT being able to sleep & then finally make myself get up & make this....maybe by that time it just helps push me over the edge into sleep.

If you can't sleep anyway, & have a book you can enjoy, maybe you can read with a bedside lamp & you will either 1) enjoy your book or 2) start to find you're reading the same sentence over & over, with eyes drooping & then sneakily turn out light, close eyes & drift off.

I send you gentle hugs. Please let us know how you're doing.

luv, Kath

PS - sorry about your medical problems.

Thanks for checking in with me Kath. I've been sleeping a little better. Even bought some Tylenol PM today to make sure it stays that way.

Tomorrow I'm going to visit a friend who has taken in a 5 month old baby (in addition to her own 2 kids). Apparently the poor little guy wakes up multiple times each night. Don't know whether to take the pills and try to sleep through it or volunteer to take some of the feedings. Either way, I may be more tired than ever by the time I get back home!

And thank you, too, for your concern over my medical issues. I think I'm doing OK with it. The progress I've made is amazing. The other day, when the nurse was starting an IV, she had to stick me twice AND dig around with the needle. And you know what? I managed not to freak out! The old me would have passed out cold!

Jeez Jammer - that's awfully kind of you to help out the friend. Maybe you can sing lullabies to baby when you're both awake!!

I'm glad the medical stuff is looking up. I don't know WHAT I would have done about the IV event! OMG.

No way!!! Freaks me out. When I had to get one a few years ago (for colonoscopy meds) I put an Emla patch (numbing patch) on before going to hospital. It was a student nurse & I told her attending supervisor I was terrified & could she please hold my other hand!! She did. :-)

Didn't hurt. I don't mind other needles too much, but I think it's the thought of the IV. Isn't it thicker??

Kath oh my goodness you do fear needles. No necessarily depends on size of the bore the needle. Some are smaller and OR ones larger usually as many meds may need to simultaniously be given. Really they don't hurt if done properly. Love Phillipa
