This is typically me though. The girl with a certain type of store forgets to send birthday greetings ... the shoemaker's family isn't far from the truth.

Thanks, Annierose and Clearskies! And it's ok to miss it. I wish I could miss my birthdays sometimes.
This year's birthday was very nice. Warm and quiet.
I don't mind telling people my age. Actually I've started adding a few years to it and saying I'm fifty. Because once I pass 45, fifty is just around the corner and I ought to start getting used to it so that when I do turn fifty I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm not even older.

Hope you had a nice one.....sounds like it was relaxing. Personally I hope to skip mine..........that is why I was going to boycott from Nov to Mar that would avoid the holidays plus the old birthday....

I have no idea how everybody knows each other's birthdays, but anyway, you are a much loved old timer here, yet still a baby at - what was it, 29? I think my next one will be 29 too. Or at least I'll start going backward and be 36 again!
So how's the job going? I saw recently that you had gotten caught up, how has it been going since? And how's New Orleans coming along (reconstruction etc)? Did you get to see Brad Pitt?

As always, what catches up must fall behind again. Not entirely my fault. Life intervenes, perhaps more when you've ignored life for a while to immerse yourself in work.
New Orleans is limping along. I guess it won't be too long till the new normal starts drifting in. Everyone who will be getting money for their loss at all should be getting it soon, so they can make decisions about their homes. The areas not as badly damaged appear normal already. And some badly damaged areas have been pockets of inspiration. But it's hard not to worry about the isolation of repaired homes and neighborhoods and the difficulty of providing services in the circumstances. New Orleans recovery still makes me melancholy. Brad Pitt I haven't seen. Wasn't he in a River Runs Through It? I'm trying to remember if I've seen his movies.

Since I doubt I'll make it to 90 in my physical shape, my life is well over half gone. This is ok with me. I wouldn't want to start over, and I have infinite faith in my higher power that whatever will come will be just as it should be.
But it occurs to me that running, or rolling, downhill is a heck of a lot more fun (or should be) than laboring up. I think I'd like to incorporate that thought into my way of being.
So I think if I remember correctly, the best way to roll down a hill is to tuck in your arms and legs? :)

The reason I asked about Brad Pitt is he was on the news talking about rebuilding New Orleans. He put like 3 Mil into it or something like that. I guess he's got to do something while Angelina is adopting babies. (If you don't know who Brad Pitt is, that last sentence won't mean anything to you).

I've seen him in the papers with the recovery effort. I think I just read something about his efforts starting to spread outside the ninth ward.
I'm not sure you can be alive in America today without knowing something about those babies. :)
