Good start to the summer...feeling less scared.

Posted by Michael83 on June 17, 2007, at 19:12:33

I've been worrying recently A LOT about the bees dying and the hadron collider in Switzerland. Usually the summer is a nightmare for me. The heat and humidity make me feel really depressed.

1.) I'm not worrying about the bees for one simple reason. Human kind is not going to die off if the bees do. If such an event happen, all of humanity's scientists would almost certainly come together and work endlessly to help restore the bees or create an artificial way to pollinate plants. At worst, a economic depression. But not the end of the world.

2.) The hadron collider. I was scanning through articles about this and found one saying how it could destroy the Earth. As usual it frightened me. I read it anyway. But then I noticed the date of the article, "July 18, 1999." They were talking about the old collider in New York. Well that one was built, and it's been running fine for 8 years. The world did not end. Scientists saw nothing bad. And to top it off, even less noise and worry is being raised about this one compared to the last.

Overall I feel much less worried. But once 2007 is over, and 2008 is here, I will know for sure everything will have turned out fine. I'm just waiting patiently for that day.

I feel less worried and I need to put my energy into productive things.

I hope everyone is doing well and has a great worry-free summer!

Avoid if easily frightened. Forgot to mention.

Gee Michael, you sound like you're doing really well.

How lovely that that article turned out to be long ago!! What a nice surprise.

I'm just starting to read books by Eckhart Tolle & it's about being in the "Now". It's really helping me!

Except the funny thing is that last night during the night, if I woke up to turn over or drink water, or pee, I would sort of get a bit stressed about 'being in the now' - instead of just relaxing & drifting back to sleep!! Almost like the minute I woke up, I was 'super-vigilant' about practicing being in the 'now'!! LOL

I send hugs (hope that's ok)

:-) Kath

I would be thinking, "in the now" should be SLEEEEPING!! lol =p

As long as your hugs don't defy physics and put the Earth in danger, thanks! =D

Hello Phillipa.

I don't take any sort of medications and I've never seen any sort of professional for this. Although I do think the severity of my problem would more than qualify me for seeing one. Oftentimes at night, I feel extreme fear (mostly about dying and the afterlife) to the point where I feel almost completely disconnected from reality and completely consumed with fear. During the day it's less extreme, but a more constant and stable worry about things like the bees and the collider.

*trigger below*

I'm honestly too scared to take any sort of medications. I'm afraid the medications will lower my state of conscious from reality and put me in a euphoric state where time will fly by and acceleration the rate at which I experience life. (Like I will consciously become a different person.)

But I believe I'm safe because my fear is that I'm afraid to die, so I would never hurt myself, and have never been in danger of doing so yet. I just get scared and cuddle up in a ball, too scared to do anything. But it's been getting better everyday since I join babble.
