My Dad is having his bypass today...

Posted by Jay on January 8, 2007, at 10:41:48

I feel bad, because I take more then put into the board...I'm sorry. Just a crazy few weeks. My Dad left for the hospital out of town a few hours ago for his quadruple bypass today. He is 70. I gave him a massive hug, we broke out in tears, told him how much I loved him, and that I would be *forever* with him..and kissed him on the cheek. My parents little dog actually started to cry when she saw my Dad and I crying..she was doing this "wimper". Love transcends everything, that is for sure.

Can I, once again, but especially this once if ever, ask for your thought's, and maybe a little "nod" or something to Jay's Dad? I know he is scared. I'd do anything in the world to take away his fear, and hopefully there is no pain for him. I go to see him, with my brother, at about 4pm or so in the ICU of the hospital. Seeing him with all of those tubes and wires...I *hope* I can keep it together.

I've slightly changed some of the words to a new song by U2, that express my love for my pops:
(You can also listen to the song here:
http://snipurl.com/16wlp )

Window In The Skies

The shackles are undone
The bullets quit the gun
The heat that’s in the sun
Will keep us when there’s none
The rule has been disproved
The stone it has been moved
The grave is now a groove
All debts are removed

Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
What it’s done to me?

Love makes strange enemies
Makes love where love may please
The soul and its striptease
Hate brought to its knees
The sky over our head
We can reach it from our bed
You let me in your heart
And out of my head, head…

Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
Oh can’t you see what your love has done?
What it’s done to me?

Please don’t ever let me out of you...
I’ve got no shame, oh no, oh no...

I know we hurt and sometimes cry
But love left a window in the skies
And to love I rhapsodize
To every broken heart
For every heart that cries
Your love left a window in the skies...

Thank you so much...from the deepest wells of my heart...
Jay

Hey Poet -

you talk my language!!! I usually would say something like, "I'll surround him with golden light"

Years ago I was a member of a "light holding" group.

My medical doctor was really progressive....and would hold all kinds of groups, talks, etc. There was a list of our names & phone #'s & if something was coming up, we'd phone whoever we wanted from the list & ask, "Would you please hold light for me....." & give details.

It was SOOOOOOOOO reassuring.

I'm certainly going to continue to 'hold light' for Jay & his Dad.

Kath

Hi Kath,

I'm glad we talk the same language. I surrounded my mother with the white light of healing through many successful surgeries and our light we are putting around Jay's dad helps things go well for him.

I'd be happy to form a light holding group with you.

My dad had a quadruple bypass several years ago. It is scary.

When you see him after surgery he will be puffed up and scary looking, but don't worry it will go away.

He will probably stay in house for four or five days and he will come home with pain meds and a big pillow to hug to his chest when he coughs.

It will take a year to fully recover. But my dad started feeling better immediately once his heart was getting fed properly. His color improved and he could exercise a lot longer.

Watch for depression.

Just a side note, this past week my dad started have left arm pain, had a cardiac cath and everything was FINE! His bypass looked great and as it turned out he had a slight torn rotator cuff.

My thoughts are with you both.

Maddie

What do you think?

That if someone needs to have light help, we just ask & those who want to hold light do?

I don't normally write one letter addressed to all, and I am sorry, I will try to get back and catch up. I just got back from the hospital, with my Mom, and we had met my brother, sister, and my niece there. Well...

My niece, my sister and I where the first three into the ICU.(for 10 minute period.) This little (well...not literally..but..as in age..) brother clenched his big sister's hand (she is only, like, 48..)..turned the corner, saw my beautiful Dad's face with the breathing tube and wires and all, and I bursted out into the biggest sob of tears I have had in such a long time, sobbing all along, onto the shoulder of my big sister. My Mom then came in a bit afterwards, I cried more on her shoulders and clenched her hands.. They (and the hospital staff) must have thought I was the most depressed person in the world! But I touched my Dad's forehead with a kiss on my hand. Apparently (and I am glad I didn't know), he was very high risk. But, so far, he has made it. (And I knock on a gazillion pieces of wood.) Oh Gaawdd..I am crying again....sorry...I will write more latter. Thank you so much for your healing light and thoughts. I am deeply indebted to you guys. Jay

Jay I'm so glad he made it. And in a few days you will feel so much better and so will your other family members and especially your Dad. I know those tubes are scarey but they serve the purpose of helping him breath for now. Bet they are out in the morning. I did work ICU for a short while. Love Phillipa

I'm so glad your other family members could be there to support each other Jay.

love to you & you're all still getting light & my thoughts.

There is no reason to apologize Jay. You are not obligated to anything here except what your heart dictates and can handle. Group email responses are fine, even expected in a difficult time. Posting only requests for support at times is also alright. You will do your part to help when you are able, and no one would want it otherwise. Don't add unnecessary guilt onto your already full plate.

I am sending you and your Dad good healing vibes, otherwise known as white light. Although it may be unproven, there is so much we don't know about the human brain that in my opinion, its entirely possible that it helps.

Don't be afraid to let the tears come. I truly believe they are healing.

We're here for you Jay.

Yes. So I'll go on record to be the first person to ask:

will you-all please hold light for me & for my son?

Thx. Kath

Plus - I think we should still hold light for Jay & his Dad & family. :-)
