My dad had a quadruple bypass several years ago. It is scary.
When you see him after surgery he will be puffed up and scary looking, but don't worry it will go away.
He will probably stay in house for four or five days and he will come home with pain meds and a big pillow to hug to his chest when he coughs.
It will take a year to fully recover. But my dad started feeling better immediately once his heart was getting fed properly. His color improved and he could exercise a lot longer.
Watch for depression.
Just a side note, this past week my dad started have left arm pain, had a cardiac cath and everything was FINE! His bypass looked great and as it turned out he had a slight torn rotator cuff.
My thoughts are with you both.
