R U a hippie, cheerleader/jock, nerd, or combo?

Posted by corafree on June 11, 2006, at 20:27:18

It's like being surrounded by a bunch of ole hippies. It's a literal commune!

'We all live in a Yellow Submarine'

'But it feels like home'

Oh, actually don't think 'they' were called 'nerds' until the computer age. Can't remember what they were called. I think they were just 'never called'!

O.k. .. I'll tell.

I'm cheerleader turned hippie (gasp) playin Led Zeppelin Harry Chapin Bonnie Raitt turned yuppie Nik*-runnin TMM-drinkin ('tall mocha lattes' or 'tiny midget farmers' .. Sta*bucks thinks they can just invent their own language!) turned un-intelligible poutin corner-sittin sometimes inanimate but hip combo w/ PWD! :B (I wish, but that's my teeth!)

I'm not sure I understood all that, but I believe I'm half hippie, half nerd.

Too young to be a hippy
Not cheerleader material
Is a nerd as self conscious as I am?
I think that's closest to me, a nerd.

<Oh, actually don't think 'they' were called 'nerds' until the computer age. Can't remember what they were called. I think they were just 'never called'!>

Okay. I think I owe you an explanation.

When I said "I think they were just 'never called' ... it was an error in judgement to stop the sentence there.

The following explains 'how it all went down':

I'd first written ... Oh, actually don't think 'they' were called 'nerds' until the computer age. Can't remember what they were called. I think they were just 'never called' anything in particular. The word 'nerd' wasn't around then.

(I was thinking someone would respond and jog my memory and tell me what the smart people in school were called then. All I could think of was something as silly as 'bookworm', but that wasn't it .. I know there was another word .. it's on the tip of my embarrassed tongue!)

But back to the sentence. I deleted 'anything in particular' to write something different. As I started to re-read the sentence and end it differently, ... it struck me as 'funny' to end it right there, and that was MY BIG MISTAKE! I thought it was funny and it wasn't!? :C

I love nerds. I wish I was one. I really, really wish I had married one, or more! One of my children is one and I wish I was him, if he was a girl that is.

I'm sorry.

Back in the dark ages, we called nerds, brains. I was a want to be brain. Almost, but not quite smart enough. I married a brain/nerd. He is the BEST.

Well, since I'm a geek I think I'm qualified to say:

DON'T apologize. It was the best laugh I've had all day.

Me - Hippie and when the surf was up I was *not* in school. But still a geek, too.

I am hippie nerd with subliminal jock-without-the-attitude tendencies.

No, I cannot translate that into English.

You're 'my cheerleader' ClearSkies! :)

New Info: My daughter said there's a difference between nerds and geeks. Yes, I forgot to put geeks as a category. Anyway, I guess 'geeks are cooler than nerds', so probably all you nerds are really geeks. (Unless you insist of course!) I think Waldo was probably a nerd ... always getting lost in the crowd and just standing there frozen in place waiting for someone to come find him. Hmm ... that sorta sounds a little like somebody I know ... and no, it's not you ClearSkies!

I think I'm an ageing hippie.

I've been told I'm a nerd, but they have all these skills, and I can hardly type.

Cheerleader or jock?
It might be nice to have a couple of good looking ones around the house as pets.
