that is really cool!

How many hens do you have? I would LOVE to live on a farm again. I grew up on one and, while, my childhood wasn't the best in the world, I do have so many fond memories of the animals that we had.

I would go out and collect eggs first thing in the morning. Those hens would surely cackle! And the rooster would always give me the old "evil eye". His name was Rojo. He "flew" at my head once, scared me to death! I spilled all the eggs!

What a great thing you have. A great great thing.

Go hens!!!!! That sounds like so much fun going out in the morning to collect eggs. I know it's a lot of work too though. So good for you too for taking care of them.

> that is really cool!

***Yep i think so too

> How many hens do you have?

*** 5 hens of various breeds (one lays pale turquoise eggs!!) and one bantam cockeral (sorry rooster) but his legs are too short to get it away with any of the hens, not for want of trying so no chicks.
Then 3 female ducks and 2 male ducks who are always 'at it' so 2 are the ducklings from last year, they've laid 170 eggs so far this year. I don't think I'm going to let them hatch any this year as I've got enough to cope with

>I would LOVE to live on a farm again. I grew up on one and, while, my childhood wasn't the best in the world, I do have so many fond memories of the animals that we had.

***Hold on to the good memories, I don't live on a farm (although i would love to) just a largish garden and tolerant neighbours!!

Chickens are fab!!

When we move and have a garden (staying in London, but moving West to East means we can upgrade to a proper house and garden! yay!) one of the first things we plan on doing (after getting ferrets *l*) is to get a couple of chickens.. we want an Egloo (http://www.omlet.co.uk) :)

How great that you get to eat such fresh eggs.. I've just had to fight round Asda to buy half a dozen! Ewww!

Does baby birds in a hanging basket count? Never collected eggs. Sounds intereting though. Oh I used to order free running chiken eggs. Over her they stay all cooped up and never get to run all over. Love Phillipa
