anyone use mood charts???

Posted by woolav on June 1, 2005, at 11:23:28

I have bp2 and found a neat website that has a mood chart. I was wondering if anyone else uses these and are they worth the effort??
Thanks

I have never done it formally, but I think it would be useful. Over the years, I have become pretty used to the ways in which my mood fluctuates monthly, and just have to check the calendar to know why, for the most part, I am feeling a bit off (well, sometimes more than a bit :-)). I am sure others may have experiences to share with you. In the meantime, I seem to recall Maxime having talked about keeping a mood chart. If you are interested in her experience with mood charts, you might want to also post your question on the main board, since that is where she tends to post.

I used to, but I found I'd obsess over it when I was anxious and not have the energy for it when I was depressed. Now I use Dr. Bob's Babbleometer once a month and that seems to work very well for me. You even get an email reminder that it's time to do it! I especially like the CES-D.

Hi. Mood charts are great!

This one is really great because you do it online. You can grant permission to pdoc to look at online as well and of course you can print it up and just it to the appointment with you.
http://www.moodtracker.com/

Here you can get a blank chart and there are instructions on how to use it plus an example of what one looks like when it's filled in:
http://www.psychiatry24x7.com/mooddiary/detail.jhtml;jsessionid=H1IUSNMRPNO2CCUCEQWCCZQKQISCGIMO?key=mooddiary

And then there is this one (by Zyprexa) which I also like because there is a page where you fill in life events because as you know they can change your mood as well. http://www.zyprexa.com/pdf/MoodDiary.pdf

So there you go. When I see my pdoc the first thing he wants to see is mood diary.

Hope this helps!

Oops, I almost forgot the most important one because it's just for bipolar disorder.

That's it.
