Jai, et al (y'alls)

The Corruption
The Bush Administration is the current iteration of corrupted controllers (spin-doctors), putting an unholy "spin" on good useful information. They are using the churches as religious stooges..... pretty inflammatory even from where I'm sittin'...

Retarding all research
The religious right has their awareness misplaced and there timing couldn't be any worse... and you can't even show them the evidence without them flailing and spinning like chickens do for 45 seconds after you cut off the chickens head...

Lets Save Lives, First!
The issue is saving lives, now that we can. We can take placental stem cell tissue and cure!!! Cure!!! Cure!!! We Americans can now cure diabetes! We Americans can repair damaged heart tissue and bring stroke victims back from the brink. Why ain't we doin' it? ...'cause somebody says that God says that we shouldn't (more tyranny of the shoulds....). Show me direct reference in the original Greek or Aramaic where God says we should listen to our temporal leaders in matters of science and then blame it all back on God. All funding for stem cell research is being blocked and blamed on God. Yet a billion of His people will die before funding will be OKed again.

Tiny Stuff
Stem cells are tiny stuff with a mind of their own. They give us clues to their motives, but its sorta in a secret code, until we get some money to research how they work. Each cell seems to target the tissue its s'posed to and not just willy-nilly any or all tissue. So, if a researcher has a placenta staring back at him, he needs to know where to start carving.

Yes, I said placenta. Overseas, other countries are, in my opinion, barbaric! Sure, if they kill a fetus and harvest heart cells which target heart tissue, or harvest brain cells which target lesions left by stroke, its quantum-easier than what American doctors want to do. These targeting cells are harder to find in the placenta. But we treat placentas as garbage and always have since the beginnings of time.......

I don't get it! Why is this labeled as wrong to the point of blocking funding to save lives? I still don't get it! Unless the Golfing-Buddies don't want it until they can CONTROL it.

Fear Factor
However, our temporal leaders say no to this critical funding and are not found guilty of these many murders. They insult my adult-ness and my intelligence by wheeling out religion as a reason!!!

God, like Spok, wants us to, "Live long and prosper"!!! If something unholy happens it won't be with a placenta, at least none that I've seen!!!

Rod

PS: If power is simply anyones ability to make a difference, then lets form up as a band of brothers and sisters in order to join our separate powers to get this wrong righted!!! Golfers are vulerable when they ain't on the links!!!

The Party of the Loud Part believes that life begins at conception. Other religions believe that life begins at first breath (until a couple hundred years ago the Catholic church would not baptize still borns as they never really lived.) The truth may or may not lie somewhere in between.

But the IMPORTANT part of that is they are beliefs, not facts. And belief is the only thing we have until someone can come up with a definition of life. Brain waves are used to determine death, should the same thing be used to determine life? Are these even the correct criteria?

Does it matter? No, because these are beliefs and (more tyranny) in this country you SHOULD NOT! impose your beliefs on someone else. If you don't like stem cells, that is your right. Don't use them! Keep taking your insulin!

Funding is another issue. The Party of the Loud part doesn't think they should have to pay for others' stem cell health. So, maybe it's time for the Party of the Sensible Part to be heard.

But I refuse to call myself part of a 'moral majority'

Well. Hullo, Trinity. I thought I'd go walkabout to a new part of the Matrix today, and look who turns up. What a nice surprise. :) Atticus

Jai,

Although fudge-brain isn't on any list of maladies treatable by stem cell infusion, cancer, HIV, BSE, and spinal chord injuries are high on the list...

Well I'm so glad you understand my fudge brain. I love the taste of fudge....but it's so hard to think when my brain is a gooy chocolate glob.

I have two friends that are currently fighting cancer with stem cell treatment. They both are still alive but I'm not sure for how long.
I am especially fond of one of the people.

Jai,
Guess what: I just read a Reuters wire service news article that says an archeologist from Norway believes that "Atlantis" was actually Ireland. According to this scientist, Ireland shares many of the specific geographic features described by Plato when he wrote about Atlantis. Also, many of the sites marked by monoliths of the Stonehenge variety in Eire are located where Plato places Atlantean temples. Apparently, around 3,000 B.C., a largish island just off the northern coast of Ireland was demolished in a vicious North Sea storm and the populace of about 2,000 wiped out. Stories about this catastrophe appear to have passed into ancient Irish folklore, then were gradually embellished as they made their way east along the Mediterranean. Besides sharing some details geographically, Ireland is the exact same size as the Atlantis first described by Plato and is in the right place. If this Norwegian isn't as crazy as I am, I guess that makes you and I fellow Atlanteans. That would certainly go a long way to explaining the weirdness in my family. Ta, Jai of Atlantis :) Atticus of Atlantis

I like the sound of that.
Yes, yes yes....I think that may be true. When I think of all the folk lore and stories of giants etc. well it gets to be pretty tall tales. I could see it in Ireland. For some reason I always thought the climate was warm if not hot....I have thought about this topic for years.
Somewhere in the distant past I lived on the island of Atlantis...I know it.
Thanks for the news clip.
You got a laugh out loud from me that time.
is that what "lol" means?

Fare thee well, fellow Atlantean. :) I think if ever there was a race of storytellers and poets who could turn an ancient catastrophe into a mythology about a beautiful, enchanted place that has haunted and tickled peoples' minds since before the time of Plato, it would be the Irish. I think the innately Irish tendency to mourn for what was once glorious but has now been lost (on a smaller scale, look at me and my marriage to Alyssa) would make the blossoming and spread of the tale an irresistable force. Good morning. This morning the sun shine is cannary yellow and warming my back as I type this to you, fellow Atlantian. I woke from a long nights rest. Rare for me.
I was madly in love once upon a time. Thunder struck was more like it. I first saw him in a hobby shop picking up supplies. Love at first sight. What took a second of exquisite pleasure took three decades to get over.

"May the sun shine warm upon your face..." -- Atlantean blessing (excerpt). Here's the URL to one of the many articles about this new Ireland=Atlantis theory that I was able to Google up: http://www.breakingnews.ie/2004/08/04/story160077.html
As you can well imagine, all the papers in Ireland are buzzing about this notion. It's detailed in a new book by Ulf Erlingsson called "Atlantis from a Geographer's Perspective: Mapping the Fairy Land". I'm not sure if it's available in America yet, but I intend to buy a copy as soon as it is. I also had a good day today -- woke up with the framework for a new poem and started writing it, then took a long walk along a trail through a nearby park, and saw a doe and two fawns feeding about five feet away (I moved very slowly and nonchalantly, and apparently they judged me no threat). That was a treat. Fare thee well, Jai of Atlantis. :) That rogue, Atticus of Atlantis

For some reason, the double double quote feature didn't work with the book I mentioned in the previous two posts. What did I screw up? Could it be that Amazon isn't listing this book yet? Atticus

I think that's it. Did you scroll down to the "Link to Amazon" section? When I tried it, it said: Sorry, no match at Amazon.

And a fine rogue you are. What exciting news. The site you where you sent me actually got me choked up. Ireland holds such an awesome place in my mind and heart.
So a new poem is being birthed? How exciting. I will be looking for your newest. I am so glad you had such a nice day. My goodness you deserve a really wonderful day.
