I was going to try every color in the rainbow, since it wasn't permanent, and to keep my life interesting. Maybe I still will, but I like this one. I'll try to post a picture, because I'm trying to take one, since this is going to wash out quickly.
It's actually not all that startling, which is probably why I like it. It's the same darkness as my own color, just picks up red when the light hits it.
The auburn makes my eyes look more green than grey, (just as the dark brown made them look more blue, but I just didn't like it). So now I am filled with the inexplicable desire to use just a bit of mascara to bring out the green a bit more. And maybe just a hint of cheek color. lol. I think the hair color made my head a bit giddy. :) I'm sure I'll get over it, especially when my husband comes home and fusses that he doesn't like it, that I wasted my day, etc. etc.
You'd think he'd at least like to get romantic with someone who doesn't look like his wife before he starts to complain. ;)

Nope, just me leaving out important information..
I do that far to often. The hairstylist who did
my brows was also an esthetician that (ahem)
might have had a little something to do with it.But I still think you had something stuck between your teeth : )

I just love it when you talk about fashion. :) Yes, it is possible to get your brows dyed to match. If you don't want to do that, you can always use an eyebrow pencil to color them in, but that gets time consuming. BTW, be careful. My hair is ashy/dark blonde and I get it highlited a really light shade of blonde. One time I asked to have my brows bleached too... Boy, that was bad. They turned orange. But, I don't think it will have the same effect if you are dying them auburn. I always liked that shade. Best of luck. Let me know how it turns out.

One time I had my stylist bleach my brows, they did turn orange. I wound up having to have them dyed a light shade of brown to fix them. Then I just washed them with soap and water repeatedly until they lightened a bit. After about two months, they returned to their natural ashy blonde color. :)

I'm glad you found a color you like. And of course, I'm partial to auburn. The others who said you can get your brows tinted with vegetable dye are correct. I actually have had my lashes tinted before. It's safe, alought not many places do it anymore. Brows are very safe. Mine are pretty similar to my own color, but I do need to pencil in to fill in sparse and (gasp) gray areas.Have fun! I would love to see a pic.

That may be it indeed, Gabbi. :) And no secret. I have to confess that it worries me a bit that on the first day of my new medication I went from wanting to figure out some way to return my hair either to its natural color or to my old childhood color to wanting to color it every color on the semi permanent color chart in turn, maybe even the pinks and purples. (Boy, wouldn't my bosses love that.) And get my ears pierced, and not just in once place. And go for that electrolysis, despite my hepatitis fears. And lose that fifty or sixty pounds by never eating anything but vegetables again. Most were just fleeting impulses. :) It's good to shake things up once in a while, but I'll keep an eye on it. And at least try to milk it a bit by removing the weeds overgrowing my back yard.
I'm so glad you were able to get some Provigil. You're sure it's a one time thing? That really really stinks. :( I wonder if it's the price? Which makes no sense, because I don't see any way that Provigil can be considered the same as Adderal or Ritalin, from what I've read. But I noticed that my co-pay was the nonformulary amount, so it must be a newer and more expensive drug?

Oh, yay, Dinah! I'm glad you're liking your hair more. Even if it is the meds talking. (Btw, I've come to realize that when meds make me think differently, it's usually not that my thoughts are different - just that I've let them out to run around more).
In my dream of you, you had lovely shoulder length auburn hair. I wonder how on target I was with your appearance in my dream? Probably not very exact, since you looked about 18 in the dream, and I'm understanding from your posts that you're . . . well, a tiny bit older than that.

Don't worry it mellows a bit, but for me it stayed nice. I was worried too, it felt a bit like a high at first, but then I realized that I used to feel like that before I was depressed.
I got excited over things, that's what keeps normal people going. It had been so long though
it was foreign.

I need it
I can't keep going to a walk-in to get my meds because the gov't will clamp down and say I'm Dr. Shopping. Unfortunately in a way I am, but I've tried being reasonable with my Doctors and it didn't work.
Anyone could look at my charts and see I'm not an abuser, and certainly Dr. R
my superdoc would not go out of his way for me
if I'd ever abused the drugs he prescribed but it seems no one wants to take that into account.I've never had a drug problem, and I really resent being made to feel like a criminal just to have something that makes me feel like living.
It's disgusting.
I have an appointment with the unwilling P.Doc tomorrow and I'll try once again to have her see reason, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.
For heavens sake she'd never heard of it, she admitted, but she won't consult with Dr. R.

It's very odd, but Provigil is not that expensive in Canada. It's not generic, it's Modafinil, but it's called "Alertec" and it's cost is about the same as Prozac.. go figure?Have fun Dinah.

Tea-Tree oil is great for contact dermatitis, take it from another with next to no skin.

D, I like auburn because it picks up the green in my eyes as well. I have hazel eyes and the auburn works REALLY well.
I'm glad you realize the need to dye the eyebrows as well. Lots of people with or auburn and leave their eyebrows dark brown or black and it does not work very well. Eyebrows are very important! Do you pluck yours or have them waxed? A good eyebrow shaping is a great investment.

My one natural attribute looks wise is a fairly well shaped pair of brows. Some minor plucking and I'm set to go. But they're a light to medium brown and clash with the auburn, I think.
I'm beginning to be not sure I'll keep it. I *do* like it, and I'm glad I did it. But my internal picture of myself is someone with dirty blonde hair, and I'm getting that familiar unpleasant startle when I catch a glimpse of myself. I have 28 shampoos to decide, I suppose. :)
(And my husband doesn't like it. He sees me as a blonde, too. He's not picky on the shade of blonde, but he wants to be able to picture me as the girl he married. And that's not a bad thing, I think. The girl he married was much prettier than I am.)

Thanks Gabbi. I'll get some tomorrow. The whole bottom half of my face is a splotchy wreck, and I have therapy *and* a meeting at work tomorrow. Waaaaahhhhhh.
I'm not sure Provigil is actually making me feel better. The experiments with hair and makeup were certainly unprecedented. And I actually chose to go to the mall today, which I never ever do.
But I've had headaches for two days straight, and overall I feel alert but sort of cr*ppy. Not nauseous exactly, but not well. Not the worst side effect in the world, as it helps my weight. But Glucophage already makes me feel cr*ppy, and I don't need an extra layer of that. Or maybe it's the rash. :) Perhaps after the tea tree oil, I'll feel a bit better.

I'm still searching for the best nail polish and lip gloss. For some reason it seems the stuff I bought on my first trip is better than anything I've tried since. I got some opal-tinted nail polish today, but I think I prefer the silvery dark pink I've been using. My first 2 lipgloss purchases were successful (i.e. wearable) but the 4 after that might as well hit the trash now.
I tried a dab of some old eye shadow as liner but it looks too dark. I'm not sure what's in fashion nowadays. This is a dark brown-- perhaps a tad lighter shade would work.
Tried putting the hair up on top of my head but it gave me a headache. It felt cooler until the pain started.
I've been considering some highlights. I know I'm late on the whole highlight fad, but it seems a bit of blond really adds glamor. Or would it look weird to do some red highlights?

As for red highlights, they look wonderful. But make sure to get ALL OVER highlights with red and not just PARTIAL. The partial highlights will just sit on top of your head and look bad.
ANother thing about red is that it fades the quickest. It is costly (at least for me) to keep up since it fades faster than other highlights.

My daughter got hers done saturday. Her natural color is a darkish blonde. Saturday she got light blond highlights AND auburn lowlights. We went for the darker red color 'cause we knew it would fade a bit.
It looks really, really good.

Holy smokes, that sounds frustrating. I missed the part about why your pdoc wouldn't give you an Rx for the provigil. But I can't imagine a much more frustrating situation than finding a drug that works, and not being able to get it because of some other person's (ill-informed) opinion.
Much luck with the renewed conversation about it. I hope you can get your Drs. to see the light.

Of course I do. I've all of sudden turned into a girly girl. And I mean that in the best possible sense. :) I still think it's a lost cause to try to improve my appearance till I lose fifty or so pounds. But the subject holds a new fascination for me, and I'd love to hear of other people's forays into beauty.
Highlights certainly haven't gone out of fashion here. I've been paying really close attention to people's hair, and highlights are everywhere. I like the kind that mixes three or so shades best. Except that I'm so impressed by the color job that I forget to look at the person. :) I think red highlights could be lovely depending on your hair color. Do I remember correctly that your hair is a lightish brown? Forgive me if I'm wrong on that. I am the most fashion ignorant person alive.
I spent hours yesterday trying to figure out if I was warm or cool. Were my veins blue or green in natural light? Gold or silver jewelry? I finally figured it out by buying several foundations in the right light-dark range, and found out that I'm warm. Which stinks because I hate to wear oranges and browns and look like h*ll in them, IMHO. :)

I'm glad you like your red hair. I dyed mine red about a year ago and I love it. I have green eyes and I think it brings them out. I went through the same thing about being shocked when I looked in the mirror. That eventually goes away though. Also, red will fade big time, even with permanant color. Then it won't seem quite so shocking.
My eyebrows are still ash blonde, but everyone thinks I'm a natural red head so they must look okay. I pluck them pretty thin though, so maybe they just can't see them very well.
I dyed it a real extreme red once, and got more compliments than ever. But I felt like a punk rocker or something, which was cool for a while, but eventually got old. So now I just do the Light Auburn.
